While we go about our everyday lives, hustling and bustling between work, errands, the gym, visiting friends and family (I could go on), we may not realize how many opportunities we miss each and every day.

By “opportunities?I of course am referring to potential dates for Friday night, and maybe even relationship material. It’s amazing how many people I know who focus on meeting Mr. or Mrs. Right, but they go through their day missing opportunity after opportunity to make a connection.

What people assume is that it will happen when you least expect it, and yes it probably will, but that doesn’t mean you can’t help it along a little, sort of give fate a nudge in the right direction.

We need to learn to take everyday opportunities that would otherwise pass us by and use these to our advantage. The coffee shop, the dive bar, the corner market, even the library, these are all excellent places to start. Now it’s up to us to be prepared for these encounters.

Ask yourself, “Is there more of a chance that I would chat with a cutie if I actually looked cute?? Most likely the answer is yes. If you look cute, chances are you feel better about yourself, and you’ll be more confident around said cutie. We all know confidence is a very attractive quality to have.

So now that we look cute, feel cute, heck we even smell cute, you may be asking yourself “What comes next?? Now the important thing is to put ourselves in situations where there are people around, and to pay attention.

Sure we can go to the coffee shop everyday for our venti non-fat caramel machiatto, but do we ever slow down enough to take in the scenery? Chances are we’re too busy chatting on our cell phones or checking off to-dos in our planners to notice the cute guy waiting for his soy latte.

If that cutie came over and hit us upside the head, most of us still wouldn’t notice. Now if fate had it’s way maybe you would trip, fall and land perfectly in his lap, fast forward down the road and you and your husband will be telling your grandkids the crazy story about how you met.

Of course the chances of that happening are slim to none, and even if it did happen it would most likely be just an embarrassing situation that you would want to forget. So this is where you have to take control of your own destiny. Put down the cell phone, look around the place, and make eye contact. One of the most important things to remember is to look approachable, don’t forget how easy it is to put a smile on your face, no one is going to approach a sour puss.

So now you look cute, you’re sending good vibes, you’re using your cutie radar, and you’re putting yourself out there. You are asking yourself, “What is left?? The only thing left now is to relax and enjoy the single life while you still can, who knows how much longer it will last.
